7 Tips for Buying a Used Car Under £2,000

Top 7 Tips for Buying a Used Car Under 2 Grand!

Searching for a 2nd hand car for sale, even new or nearly new car for sale is a task and a half by anyone’s measure! Wave a stick in the air and you can find a cheap used car in the UK on sale privately and there are also some part exchanges to clear at dealerships too. £2 grand is a decent amount of money to pay for a used car if you are simply looking for cheap transport however it is also a price point which can encompass some mechanical faults as well as body damage!

Here are a seven top tips for buying a used car online which have been collected from the local car dealership based in Armley, Leeds which is Ward Motors UK who trading for the past few years has witnessed a shift in the cheap used car buyers consumption needs as well as the availability of cheaper, reliable vehicles on the market.

1. What Car – Deciding on the make, model and variant of vehicle is indeed a great place to start but, when shopping for a used car on a price point such as under £2,000 restricts further the options for make and model.

2. Mechanics – Buying a mechanically sound vehicle is perhaps one major consideration for those who are shopping on a budget. Choosing a second hand vehicle which has body work damage, poor paint or has had a little shunt could be the best way to secure a car which is cheaper for these reasons rather than being cheap because the used car has a problem.

3. Deciding on Fuel Type – Perhaps the most important decision a used car buyer can make in the current climate is about the fuel choice. Petrol cars might be more costly to buy or run with fewer miles to the gallon but, the simplicity or petrol cars vs diesel or PHEV even can mean that this is the correct choice for the consumer. If one does less than 5k miles per year then indeed petrol is the fuel, 8k diesel and 10k + means an automatic vehicle would likely suit.

4. Deciding on Vehicle Size/ Shape – Depending on the consumers budget a variety of shape and size vehicles may be available. SUV or estate car, even saloon or hatchback, the considerations for the vehicle size and shape should be the next most important point to consider when looking at cheap used cars for sale.

5. Deciding on what is Available Locally – Shopping for a used car locally is perhaps not the best approach for those on a budget as often cheaper cars are at the ends of the earth. Either the far reaches of Scotland or Wales or even Devon and Cornwall, the distance which people have to travel to view the car means that private sellers will often decrease the price of the car to try and secure a sale as they are a long way from larger cities such as Leeds or London.

6. Making the Right Choice – Once fuel type as well as size and location/ distance one would likely travel have been accessed its time to start looking in person at the vehicles. Some are confident with cars and others are not. Taking another person with you to view a vehicle is a good idea even if they don’t know much about cars.

7. Who – Buying from a Car Dealer or Used Car Trader vs Private… Car dealers come with 90 day warranties, also Financing a Cheap Car for Sale is an option via a trusted used car dealer. Part exchanges as well as the ability to drive away with insurance as well as the peace of mind that you are covered by a warranty as well as the fact the dealer should have safety checked the vehicle is another bonus. Although the price may be slightly cheaper on the private market, the likelihood that that should anything go wrong with the car or if something wasn’t spotted prior to the sale. Notably Using 3rd Party Websites like Autotrader

If you are not precious and willing to have a go then best to be informed so we asked some of the UKs cheap car dealers some tips they have for buying a £2,000 used car!
